LC State campus hosting active shooter training exercise Sept. 15

LEWISTON, Idaho – Local emergency response personnel will conduct an active shooter training exercise on the Lewis-Clark State College campus on Friday, Sept. 15, at 8 a.m.-1 p.m.

During the training exercise there will be a heavy presence of law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical personnel on campus. There will also be sounds of gunshots from simulated weapons.

The campus will remain open during this time except for Meriwether Lewis Hall.

The training exercise is for emergency personnel to simulate a shooting incident on campus to help with their emergency response preparedness. LC State students and employees, along with the general public, will not be participating in the exercise and are asked to avoid the staging area, which is around Meriwether Lewis Hall, during the exercise. Emergency tape will be used to show the designated area.

The exercise is a collaborative effort involving various public agencies, including the City of Lewiston Police Department, Fire Department, Public Information Office, and Risk Management Office; Nez Perce County Sheriff's Office and Coroner; City of Clarkston Police Department and Fire Department; Idaho State Police; Lewis-Clark State College administration and staff; St. Joseph Regional Medical Center administration and staff; Tri-State Memorial Hospital administration and staff; Idaho Office of Emergency Management, and Public Health-Idaho North Central District.

LC State students and employees are automatically enrolled to receive Warrior Alerts, which are text, voice, and email emergency notifications from the college. Students and employees will receive a Warrior Alert notification regarding this training on Sept. 14.

The general public can sign up for Warrior Alerts at www.lcsc.edu/alerts
