LC State’s nursing program earns more national accolades

LEWISTON, Idaho – Lewis-Clark State College’s nursing program continues to receive accolades, the latest from BestAccreditedColleges.org, a school ranking website that helps students with their decision on where to attend college.

LC State’s LPN to BSN program, which helps licensed practical nurses (LPNs) earn their bachelor degree, is ranked No. 5 nationally by BestAccreditedCollege.org, and is the only college west of Nebraska to be ranked in the top five.

The rankings consider accessibility, affordability, quality of education and return on investment for the students. Accessibility includes admission rates, education support and resources, and non-traditional credit programs. Affordability includes tuition and financial aid, while quality considers graduation and retention rates, along with the student-faculty ratio.

Of the top 14 schools ranked, LC State was the second best on tuition and easy access to financial aid, placement services and career services.

LC State’s LPN to BSN program is available in a hybrid model with online and on-campus courses and allows students to continue working as LPNs while pursuing their degrees. The curriculum of the LPN to BSN track aims to prepare students for the National Council Licensure Exam for RNs (NCLEX-RN) that is needed for licensure in the field. LC State BSN graduates consistently do well on the NCLEX exam with recent pass rates of 95 percent for first-time test takers, compared to the national average of around 88 percent.

During the past year, RegisteredNursing.org, a nursing advocacy organization, named LC State’s nursing program the best among all four-year institutions in Idaho. RNtoMSN.org, an online resource that provides comprehensive information to registered nurses interested in bachelor’s and master’s nursing degrees program, ranked LC’s State’s RN to BSN online program as the best in Idaho, along with the best program for earning a BSN and the most affordable program.

Also, EduMed.org ranked LC State’s RN to BSN program as one of the 11 best in the nation for best overall and most affordable.
