LEWISTON, Idaho – To celebrate Lewis-Clark State College’s 125th anniversary, the LC Center for Arts & History is hosting the exhibit “Town & Gown: 125 years of LCSC Campus & Community” starting on Sept. 6.
There will be an opening reception on Sept. 6 at 4:30 p.m. at the Center, located at 415 Main St. in Lewiston. The exhibit will run through Oct. 27.
The exhibit is a celebration that examines the relationship the college has fostered with the community throughout its history. It will highlight the various roles community members have played in support of LCSC, through patronage, support of athletic and artistic events, scholarships for students, and political support during tumultuous state funding cycles.
Along with the exhibit, there will be six events that examine the stories of community patronage with LCSC. The interactive programs encourage the community to share their own memories and artifacts of the college. All programs are free and take place at the Center, unless otherwise noted. The six events are:
- Sept. 6, 4:30 p.m. – Opening Reception
- Sept. 8, 1 p.m. – Second Saturday Family Art Day: LC Rocks The Next 125 Years
- Sept. 20, 5 p.m. – Talk: “Profiles in Perseverance: Six People Who Transformed LCSC” by Keith Peterson, state historian
- Sept. 24, 4 p.m. – Library Archives Open House (at the LCSC Library)
- Oct. 3, 5:30 p.m. – Panel: “Jordan’s Orphans to Vickers’ Victors: Keeping LCSC Alive”
- Oct. 10, 4:30 p.m. – Panel: “LCSC’s International Programs – Bringing the World to Idaho”
The exhibit is sponsored by the LCSC Office of the President, LCSC Community Programs, LCSC 125th Anniversary Committee, and Land Title of Nez Perce County. The exhibit also is made possible through grant funding from the Idaho Humanities Council and US Bank.
