LEWISTON, Idaho – Local historian Steven Branting will give a talk on “Blood, Sweat and Cheers: Lewis-Clark State Athletics (1898-1970)” on March 21 as part of the 125th anniversary celebration taking place this year at Lewis-Clark State College. Branting’s talk with start at 3:30 p.m. in Room 112 of Sacajawea Hall on the LCSC campus.
The college, which was founded in 1893, has planned events throughout the year to honor its 125th anniversary.
The presentation is free and open to the public.
Branting will discuss how early Lewiston was a town known for its sporting activities. The college’s site was actually a premier baseball and football field before the city deeded the land to build the college. Branting will cover how the college emphasized physical activity as part of the student experience throughout its early history, which made for a natural relationship between the community and the college athletics.
For those interested in coming to the presentation, a one-day campus parking pass can be obtained by contacting the LCSC Security Office at either security@lcsc.edu or by calling 208-792-2226.
