LCSC Homecoming is Oct. 17-22

LEWISTON, Idaho – Lewis-Clark State College will hold its second annual modern day Homecoming on Oct. 17-22 with several campus and athletic events highlighting the weekend.

All events are open to the public and are free of charge unless otherwise noted. Anyone planning to attend one or more event is asked to register by clicking on the register button.  During the online registration, there is the opportunity to purchase LCSC Homecoming T-shirts for $5 apiece.

The Homecoming events kick off at noon on Friday with a Picnic with the President at the Student Union Building. Enjoy a free barbecue with LCSC President J. Anthony (Tony) Fernandez. An all-campus photo open to all current LCSC administration, faculty, staff and students will follow at 1 p.m. at center court of the LCSC Activity Center gymnasium. All are asked to be there at 12:45 so they can be lined up around the center court logo.

Kickball games will follow at 1:15 p.m. on the Library lawn that will pit students against the LCSC faculty and staff. Depending on the number of teams formed, games could continue throughout the afternoon.

Campus tours guided by current students will begin at 4:30 p.m. Anyone wanting to go on the tour is asked to meet in front of the President’s House across the street from the Administration Building, on the southeast corner of 8th Avenue and 6th Street.

Also at the President’s House at 4:30 p.m. will be the Warrior Warm Up. The event will be in the backyard.

The LCSC women’s basketball team will open its season that evening against the University of Fraser Valley at 5:30 p.m. in the Activity Center.

The first day wraps up with the Lip Sync Battle at 8-9 p.m. in the Silverthorne Theatre. The first 30 people to register before Oct. 14 will be in the competition. Songs are limited to 90 seconds. A panel of judges will pick the top three finishers for prizes. To register, contact Debbie Kolstad at dqkolstad@lcsc.edu.

On Saturday, Oct. 22, the activities begin at 10 a.m. with an International Student Alumni brunch at the Williams Conference Center. International alums will also have an Alumni Social at 4 p.m. at the home of Kathy Grussing in Juliaetta.

The Native American Alumni Chapter will hold a meeting at 3 p.m. at the Pi’amkinwaas Center, located at 1112 7th Street. The Chapter will then have a pizza party with President Fernandez at the LCSC Activity Center Conference room at 4 p.m.

A day full of athletic events is also on tap. The baseball team will hold a scrimmage at 11 a.m. at Harris Field that will feature free admission with $1 hot dogs, sodas and popcorn. Also, fans will have a chance to say goodbye to the grandstand seats at Harris Field. A new seating project is expected to begin this fall.

A basketball doubleheader will follow at the LCSC Activity Center. The LCSC women will play Fraser Valley again, this time at 2 p.m., followed by the men’s season opener against Northwest Indian College at 4 p.m. Admission is free to all who registered for Homecoming and also will feature $1 hot dogs, sodas and popcorn.

At halftime of the men’s game will be the Homecoming Finale where prizes are awarded.

That evening will be the LCSC baseball team’s Ring Ceremony where the 2015-16 team members will receive their Avista-NAIA World Series national championship rings. To purchase tickets for this event, contact the LCSC athletic department at 208-792-2471.

Also on Oct. 22, there will be a free performance by Mad Chad, The Chainsaw Juggler, at 7 p.m. in the Silverthorne Theatre. Mad Chad juggles everything from video cameras and cell phones to flaming tennis balls and chainsaws. He holds the Guinness Book of World Records for juggling 3 chainsaws for 78 throws.

During the week of Oct. 17-21, LCSC students will have the opportunity to compete for prizes and take part in Homecoming spirit days. The LCSC Alumni Association is holding a Warrior Flag Find each day. Flags will be hidden on campus and the student who finds the flag that day and returns it to the LCSC Alumni Office, located in the house on the corner of 9th Avenue and 7th Street, will win a Warrior prize package. Daily winners will compete during the Homecoming Finale to win a grand prize of a flat screen television.

With spirit week, there will be clothing themes for each day – Monday: Pajama Day. Tuesday: Twin Day. Wednesday: Nerd/1980s Day. Thursday: Super Hero Day. Friday: LCSC Day.
