Art of Giving food drive is this weekend at AUE

LEWISTON, Idaho – Students, faculty, and staff of Lewis-Clark State College will host the Fourth Annual Art of Giving food drive and matching fundraiser this weekend, April 22-24, at Art Under the Elms (AUE) on LCSC’s campus.

Art of Giving offers community members a fun way to support local food drive efforts. Activities include casting a vote for the best canned goods sculpture created by several campus clubs, and donating a dollar or two cans of food to be entered in a drawing to win a prize basket. Past can sculpture designs have included a voting booth with a Lego White House on top, a replica of the Valley of the Kings, a giant bridge, and the LC logo.

A part of the “Send Hunger Packing” campaign, the annual event collects food and money for several area food banks including the Asotin County Food Bank, the Community Action Partnership, St. Vincent de Paul, The Roc – Rescue Mission, and the YWCA.

Last year the Art of Giving raised, with the help of matching funds, $1,450 and approximately 1,500 pounds of food.
