LEWISTON, Idaho – The exhibit “Art on the Fly” that pays tribute to fly fishing will be on display through Aug. 18 at the Lewis-Clark State College Center for Arts & History, located at 415 Main St. in Lewiston.
The exhibit includes historic, rare, educational, and craftsman-quality fly fishing equipment and traditional artwork. The exhibit coincides with “Rivers & Vines Plein Air Exhibition” and shares the rivers and waterways as a common theme.
Five programs will be held at the Center in conjunction with the fly fishing exhibit. They include:
- Aug. 8, 4:30 p.m.: “A River Runs Through It” by Norman Maclean, literary reading by former Idaho Writer in Residence, Bill Johnson
- Aug. 9, 6 p.m.: Fly-tying demonstrations and reception with showing of “A River Runs Through It” at 7 p.m. with follow-up discussion led by Bill Johnson. A no-host bar and light refreshments available
- Aug. 11, 1 p.m.: Second Saturday Family Art Day with fly-tying crafts and fly-tying demonstrations
- Aug. 15, 7 p.m.: “Women and Fly Fishing – not just a man’s sport” panel discussion on opportunities for women to get involved with fly fishing throughout the region
The exhibit and programming is funded through grants from US Bank and ARTS Idaho.
